or just plain ol' ISASLS when I get too darn lazy to spell it all out. These pages are designed to 'spell it all out' little by little.
This is a 25 min or less (or more) original story and soundtrack. It is my aim to produce it in a completely analog context, if that is even possible. I say that because with all of the digital tools available it is somewhat of a feat to go completely analog these days. Consider the fact that the original analog procedure of editing film and audio requires actually slicing the tape or film with a blade and then putting it back together with small strips of special adhesive tape. Digital editing is a procedure that typically requires a point and click drag and drop, and if it does not work out the way it was planned, just click undo. It would be a ludicrous waste of time and effort to attempt a strict recreation of all analog methods but; just think about how much deliberation is required to commit to the analog edit. The term “quick and dirty” became a popular way to describe a practice of video tape production process, one of the first giant leaps towards a more expedient and experimentally forgiving production technology. Perhaps “forethought and perspicaciousity” would be the purely analog sound bite. The point is there are obvious advantages and short comings inherent to both digital and analog techniques; the idea is to utilize the very best of each to create a more than worthwhile final production. |
